New Delhi, 08. March 2025  |  This year’s Alliuris Spring Conference was held in New Delhi, hosted by Alliuris member firm Hammurabi & Solomon. Many thanks to Shweta Bharti and her team for the warm welcome and the very professional conference program and to Atul Dua for his contribution to the cultural insights! The partners of H&S presented a comprehensive overview of the legal framework in India for investment, corporate, labour and digital law, followed by a comparison of privacy and data protection in India and the EU and an intensive discussion of interesting details: While India has taken the EU GDPR as a basis, it believes that smaller companies should be exempted from the strictest protection rules.

H&S partner Amit Verma and Ulrich Herfurth, Managing Partner of Herfurth & Partner in Germany and Alliuris Chairman, demonstrated how cooperation between Alliuris members works: the two firms recently advised on the establishment of a German-Indian joint venture in the automotive industry in Pune, the result of which was shown in a public video of the inauguration ceremony.

As the world’s largest country in terms of population, India is on course to grow its economy by focusing on manufacturing. This, together with the proposed trade and investment treaty between Europe and India, is an opportunity for both regions, especially if European know-how in machinery and training is combined with Indian know-how in IT and software.

Alliuris board members Ulrich Herfurth, Toni Fito, Daniel O’Connell, Renato Pacheco Neto and Atul Dua were pleased to meet with H&S Managing Partner Shweta Bharti, Partners Jyoti Kumar Chaudhary, Ashutosh Das, Shantanu Malik, Anil Tiwari and Rohit Jolly, Aeshwarya Sisodia, Kushagra Verma and Dr, Manoj Kumar, currently Additional Secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice. This conference was a really successful event and a very good basis for further collaboration.
